82 Extracted by modified Clevenger-type hydrodistillation, two essential oils of Syncephalum suborbiculare and S. tsinjoarivoense, newly produced in Madagascar, were characterized by association of chromatographic (GC-RI) and spectroscopic techniques (GC-MS and NMR 13 C). Chemical composition of these essential oils is characterized by the high level of 1,8-cineol (43.07 vs 52.07%), but different by the presence of i) monoterpenes hydrocarbons: α-pinene (8,15%) et β- pinene (4,22%) for Syncephalum suborbiculare) and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons : (E)-β- caryophyllene (6.16%) and α-humulene (6.42%); these constituants are associated with monoterpene alcohols: linalool (9.61%), and α-terpineol (6.39%) for S. tsinjoarivoense.
