240 Traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources is exploited by researchers and industrialists. This article analyzes the practices of access to this knowledge, so that holders can benefit from a fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from their use, according to the national and international legal systems in force. The analysis was carried with information collected by surveys of holders and users of traditional knowledge. Access to this knowledge is not subject to the principle of prior informed consent. No sharing of the benefits arising from their use is made by their users to their holders. The latter are unaware of their right and the users acquire their knowledge free of charge. This situation does not trigger the sharing of the benefits arising from the use of this knowledge. Strengthening the capacities of stakeholders on the subject is required to better protect and promote this knowledge
