Roles of Volohazo in the kingdom founding: Andriamisara, Volohazo origin of the Andriamandisoarivo’s kingdom according to oral traditions

The conquest of the kingdom of Boeny by Andriamandisoarivo emanates from the power of the Volohazo andriamisara. The latter submitted without great difficulties the natives their passages. The problem found relates to the primacy of the Volohazo or talisman over armed conflicts. The conflict of Andriamandisoarivo is a kind of hazary conflict. In this sociopolitical view of the volohazo in the conquest of power from oral traditions, the study aims to enhance the element at the base of the identity of the sociopolitical system sakalava. The constructivist theories of Bourdieu and the structural-functionalist of Parsons and Merton are used; added to these theories, the inductive-hypothetical-deductive approach which is based on participant observation supported by the use of interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Carried out in districts of Boeny, the study affirms that the Sakalava recognize Andriamisara as the source of the success of Andriamandisoarivo in his conquest towards the north. He is the owner of the people or “Boeny”.
