RAPANOEL Laingo
Violence is now becoming digital in Madagascar. It affects many areas of social life, including politics.
The discourse and opinions of opposing supporters sometimes escalate on social media platforms, which
become the arena for protagonists, trolls, extremists and political groups eager to influence public opinion
and disrupt electoral processes. Thus disinformation campaigns, personal attacks and virulent political
speeches interposed become common place.
However, social networks like Facebook use several hate speech management algorithms on its platform,
the main one being the Hate Speech Classifier, toolusing machine learning to analyze and identify malicious
posts, comments and messages against an individual or a group because of their differences. So how can
this digital security bestrengthened?
By focusing on inter-individual exchanges and then creating a social ethical culture, it would be possible
to mitigate the exacerbation of digital violence. Institutions-civil society-individual interactions will makeit
possible to adjust behavior in the face of this total social fact, and will strengthen collaboration against
digital political violence.
