VIOLENCE CRIMINELLE, ATTEINTE A L’HUMANITÉ ET SENTIMENT D’INSÉCURITÉ A MADAGASCAR
VOLOLONDRAMASY Salohy Mampionona
In recent years, Madagascar has experienced a phenomenon of violence and crime fueled by different
contexts: economic, political and social. The feeling of insecurity is omnipresent in both rural and urban
areas. To try to dissect the questions on the causes, the consequences of the acts of violence in Madagascar,
followed by the recommendations, we adopted the approach of the sociological study. On this, literature
reviews, documentation work, data collection focusing on violence were also carried out. Investigations
based on direct observations and analyzes of the facts reported by journalists have finally helped us to
understand the cases of violence, kidnapping, mutilation and others.
The figures justify a growing feeling of insecurity among the Malagasy, a loss of confidence of the
leaders as well as of the police force is also observed, hence the organization of community self-defense at
the neighborhood level. These same reasons also fuel popular vindictiveness.
The restoration of public security in Madagascar requires the implementation of more realistic and better
adapted actions.
